Everton is three points behind top four, when the season is halfway through. I doubt that Rennes would have performed at the same level if they had played in the premiership. Everton finishes sixth last year as well and won all their matches at the group stage of the UEFA tournament.

Of course Brann got a small chance. But they are off season and were pretty lucky to get through the group stages. They were totally outplayed against Hamburg and the victory against Zagreb and the point against Rennes was a huge robbery. And none of the players in the starting eleven to Brann is good enough for Everton. I would rank Brann as good championship side, and a team that is normally beaten by every side in the Premier League.

Anyway: I think we Norwegians have a bit more to say when we compare the level of the english league to the level of the norwegian league! Norwegians know a lot about english football, most games are on tv, and english league games have been on norwegian tv since 1969. We know both leagues. But what the hell do you englishmen now about norwegian football? Absolutely nothing! And you still think Rosenborg are the best team, even when they finish 5th - far behind the champions. It's like saying that Liverpool are the best team in England, just because they're the only english team who have won the Champions League the last 8 years.

I don't think the majority of this forum follows English football as close that you might think.

Everton is a good team, no doubt about that. So are Brann by the way. Our big problem is that we are in the middle of pre-season in february. This will give Everton a huge advantage.

Everton is of course favourites, but i wouldnt write of our chances either. Bigger surprises occour almost every week in fotball. But as i said, our problem will be the fitness of our team in February.

A victory for Brann in the first leg at Brann Stadium would be a surprise, but hardly a shocking result. If we can manage that, anything could happen at Goodison.

Well Brann then won 6-0 on agg to the team placed 2nd, and won 6-5 in agg against number 3, 8-2 against number four, so then we must be MUCH better than ALL of those teams, with your logic solutions in mind. Of course we can't go a whole season without loosing on aggregate, and we don't even give it a thought because its not a knock out, you get nothing from it. Its just pointless comparing.

We also lost 4-2 on aggregate to Tromsø, we won 4-3 on aggregate against Vålerenga, won 5-1 on aggregate against Fredrikstad, lost 7-3 on aggregate against Lyn, won 7-3 on aggregate against Strømsgodset and so on. What does this statistics show? Brann outplayed every single rival to the gold. Rosenborg is mediocre and every mediocre team can take points from the top four teams every now and then.

Study Rosenborg for an hour or two.. Look at their statistics away from home, for example. The only thing you know about them is that they USED TO play in europe and USED TO be any good and they USED TO win the norwegian premiership. Nowadays Rosenborg is Norways answer to Everton in England. Its just an annoying itch. No one gives it a thought without themselves, no one cares about them. They can't even make a norwegian team fear them, although they have our respect.

Next season it can change again, although Rosenborgs problems grow deeper and deeper and I can't see them in the top 3 next year either, anyhow, we talk about NOW, we talk about 2007 and forward to february 2008!! I don't know the list you talk about, do you have a link? Is it just some "experts" list of how they rank the european leagues? If so - the list is very subjective, its one or a couple guys opinion. Worth nothing.

Although I can understand that Norway & norwegian league is ranked 18th if it has something to do with ranking points, how far our national team reaches in international championships, how well teams from our country does it in europe, and so on. Hi everyone. It looks like we have a few children on this thread! I am am Everton fan and really looking forward to the game. I think we are favourites but I really respect any team in Europe. We played Metalist in the first round and I would say that those games were tougher than any of the group games. You will be a tough opposition. Does anybody know what is happening with tickets? Will we be able to buy any over in Norway? If you lot sell your allocation at Goodison I am prepared to buy some tickets for your fans for that game and you do the same for me in Norway? My guess is that the match will be sold out pretty quick and all tickets (except away supporter tickets) will only be available in the Brann supporter shop. Probably possible to buy some black market tickets in Norway. Of course at high price, but you are used to high ticket prices anyway, hehe :)
